About Concertos for Kids

For every Fresno Philharmonic performance throughout our season, we select a school from the surrounding districts that we feel will strongly benefit from these presentations. Selected schools receive a once in a lifetime visit from a professional touring musician where the students will get the chance to listen to and interact with a world renowned artist.

As student participation in the performing arts engages them in meaningful learning and academic achievement, encourages creativity and critical thinking and raises standardized test scores, teachers that participate in this free program, attend an Arts Access Workshop where they are given materials that allow them to integrate the presentations musical concepts into their existing curriculum in ways that align with prescribed national and state educations standards in music. These workshops allow the presentation to go from a one-time exciting event to a lifetime of learning for our children.

To date, the Concertos for Kids program has touched over thousands of different students in our community, and participating teachers like Cherie Luck from Bullard Talent have been raving! Cherie remarks: "Without the generosity of the Fresno Philharmonic, our students might never have had the opportunity to experience Edgar Meyer's talent in their own "backyard". Placing this concert in a venue familiar to our students transformed it from an otherwise surreal occasion to something concrete and REAL to them!"

All of our Concertos for Kids presentations are booked this season (see schedule below). If you would like additional information on how to sign up your students for the upcoming season, or are interested in having Maestro Kuchar come speak to your students this season, please contact Lisa Stallings, Director of Operations and Education at lstallings@fresnophil.org
